Surveillance System Types

Depending on your requirements, there are three types of surveillance system set up: Mobile, Professional and Hybrid.

Mobile Setup

If you change surveillance  places quite often or you have limited budget, you may consider the Mobile Setup (hardware requirements) for quick deployment. The Mobile Setup uses web cameras connected to computer through USB hub. The mobile setup requires minimum wiring efforts because all cameras are either wireless or powered from USB hub. And there is no special hardware required at computer end other than USB ports. The connection diagram is shown below.

Professional Setup

If you prefer a professional video surveillance system which will be installed permanently at one place and work 24 hours a day, you may consider the Professional Setup (hardware requirements). Professional Setup uses cameras with composite video output or network IP cameras. You need video capture card(s) with multiple input to be installed at computer end if using analog cameras.

Hybrid Setup

You can also mix above two setup types. XtraSense is designed in such a flexible way for you to connect analog CCTV cameras, network IP cameras, USB cameras and DV cameras at same time.
