Automatic storage management is essential to surveillance system which will run unattendedly 24 hours a day/7 days a week. In XtraSense, there are two storage management mode for you to choose from.
Auto Mode Auto mode allows XtraSense to fully manage all your available drives like hard disk drive, external USB disk drive and network drive. Because XtraSense detects available drives in real time, you can add more external hard disks to system while the program is running. When current drive is full, XtraSense will automatically move to the next available drive without human intervention. When all drives are full, the program will start cleaning up from the drive containing the oldest log files and start over again. The diagram below shows how it works.
All available drives are listed in alphabet order. The current drive is indicated with green light.
User Mode If you only have one hard disk in your system, you may like to specify where you want to store XtraSense log files by enabling User Mode. User mode allows you to select any disk drive and any folder you like (as long as they have sufficient free space). Under user mode, XtraSense will not search for next available disk when current one is full. Instead, it will clean up old log files to make room for new ones. The video recording will not be interrupted during this process. The cleaning up event will be recorded in system event log to show you what files have been erased. |
