Motion Detect Mode There are two motion detect modes available: multi-spot and multi-angle. You can configure some cameras to work under multi-spot mode and others work in multi-angle mode.
Multi-spot Mode This is the most commonly used motion detect mode under which each camera takes care of one area. Alarm will be triggered when any camera detects motion.
Multi-spot mode
Multi-angle Mode Multi-angle motion detect is XtraSense's unique feature. In this mode, selected cameras are grouped to monitor same area as shown in picture below.
Multi-angle mode
In multi-angle mode, alarm will only be triggered when all cameras in the group detects the motion. This helps to reduce false alarm significantly. And you get multiple pictures for intruder from different angles. For example, you will get pictures from top view, left view and right view of intruder in Group 1.
To group cameras, you need to specify the group number from drop down list. Cameras with same group number will be grouped together. Change the number to none to take a camera from the group. Below is a screen sample of group selection based on above picture's camera configuration:
On Motion Detect
Record Video Record video for specified number of seconds. The default length is 15 seconds. If motion is detected again during recording, the total recording time will be extended for another 15 seconds calculated from the time of motion detected.
Capture a Frame of Video Frame Capture a picture from camera instead of recording whole video.
Play sound Pre-recorded wav files can be played when motion is detected. You can set different sound for each camera by replacing the corresponding wav files in program's Profile folder. The sound file's name for a camera starts with "SND_cam" and followed by the camera number (i.e. SND_cam12.wav). To test the sound for a camera, click on the button with same number.
Send Captured Video and Frame by Email If enabled, video and frames will be sent by email as attachments.
Upload captured video and frame to FTP server If enabled, video and frames will be uploaded to remote server
Empty Cache Clear all pending files for email and FTP transmitting.
Run External Program with Parameters Tell XtraSense to launch external program and optionally use camera ID, captured picture or any user specified parameters. For example, if you key in "C:\CloseDoor.exe LivingRoom" and checked CamID option, the actual command executed when camera 3 motion detected will be : "C:\CloseDoor LivingRoom 3".
Send SMS If enabled, you will get a SMS message saying "MOTION DETECTED ON: Camera No.", where No. will be replaced with the actual camera number on which motion was connected. XtraSense will search all available serial ports for supported GSM modem or mobile phone. You can also specify a port from the list. Click on button "Send Testing SMS" to test the GSM modem.
In order to send SMS, the GSM modem or mobile phone to be used must support AT command set especially the AT+CMGF command. Some sample pictures of GSM modems are listed below
If you want to make use of your old mobile phone as dedicated sms machine, you can get the data cable to connect to computers serial port.

Sensor Alarm Sensor alarm will be triggered when any of the sensor input status is changed.
Play sound Pre-recorded wav files can be played when sensor alarm is triggered. You can set different sound for each sensor by replacing the corresponding wav files in program's Profile folder. The sound file name for a sensor starts with "SND_sen" and followed by the sensor ID (i.e. SND_sen2.wav). To test the sound for a sensor, click on the button with same ID number.
Send notification by SMS If enabled, you will get a SMS message saying "Alarm detected on sensor: Sensor ID.". XtraSense will use the same GSM modem as the one used by camera alarm.
Send notification by email If enabled, an alarm notification email will be sent to predefined address telling you which sensor has been triggered.
Action List Action list defines what action to take for each individual sensor. You can select camera to start recording and program to run for each sensor when alarm is triggered. You can also stop camera recording or run another program when the sensor is normalized. You can also specify parameters to pass to the program.
Following example shows how to dial a dial-up connection on sensor 1 trigger and hang up on sensor normalize.
Step 1: Check sensor 1 "Run Program" checkbox. Step 2: Enter "RASDIAL.EXE ConnectionName" in "On Sensor Trigger" field. Step 3: Enter "RASDIAL.EXE ConnectionName /disconnect" in "On Sensor Normalize" field. Step 4: Save the settings |
